Snook Independent School District, Snook, Texas As with many small towns, the school in Snook is an important and prominent part of the the community. 600 kindergarten through 12th-grade students attend from the local and surrounding rural area. Since the school also serves as a community center, particular attention was paid to safe and secure off-hours access. This project was complicated in that 40,000 square feet of existing school building was to be demolished and 56,000 square feet added; all while the school was to remain functional. In order to accomplish this, the work was implemented in phases. Phase I included demolition of the existing elementary portion, followed by new construction of elementary wing and cafeteria and kitchen. Phase II included a new gymnasium, library, administration space, and secondary level classrooms and labs. All design work was completed at one time; the entire package was issued to a construction-manager-at-risk for pricing and construction. |
