Business Center at College Station, Texas The Cabletime building is the corporate headquarters for a cable service company. The building houses six departments with open office space surrounded by enclosed individual offices. The building includes executive offices, a production studio, a master control center, shipping/receiving and shop/warehouse spaces. The building is 12,800 square feet and was completed in 1999. Targeting a very conservative budget, the basic design was shaping up to look like a shoebox until it was embellished with curved roof elements, an arced window-wall at the executive offices, and the sunscreen components. It features a continuous barrel vault roof and exposed steel bow trusses down the spine of the building with clerestory windows. These windows allow light to filter into the interior open spaces. The interior circulation flows around the master control center allowing view into its inner workings. That volume space rises to the elevated curved roof above. Textural constrast on the exterior is provided by rock-faced masonry and smooth plaster finishes. Two years later, we designed the 4,000 square-foot addition for this client. |
